Designed by Michelle Fuller using the original loon by TJ Kuhlman
The Rebel Loon returns with a message about love — but not the soft kind. The kind that’s bold, defiant, and grounded.
I designed this version the night of the halftime show that celebrated love and culture — and people were boycotting it before it even happened because it “wasn’t American.” That stuck with me.
Most people look at me and don’t assume an immigrant story. I’m white. I don’t get questioned about belonging. But my grandfather was an immigrant. During the war in England, he spent the last dollars he had to bring his two younger sisters to the United States to build a better life.
That story is part of my family.
And it’s part of this country.
So when love or cultural expression gets labeled “not American,” it doesn’t sit right.
This Battle Loon carries a quote about love that isn’t passive — it’s strong, resilient, and unapologetic.
Each piece is hand screen printed at Owl’s Eye Printmaking Lab in downtown Saint Paul by a tiny crew — mostly just me and a couple volunteers — pulling ink and doing what we can.
Printed on a Bella+Canvas unisex tee, made with incredibly soft cotton and dyed and cut in the USA for everyday comfort.
Special Note: Blue and White Shirts will have the Red Eye. Black Shirts will not as it doesn't show up.
This design is part of our Rebel Resist fundraising series.
Together these prints have helped raise over $14,000 for rental assistance through Neighborhood House and the Wilson Foundation, helping Minnesota families stay housed.
Wear something that stands for something.
